Dutch trance DJ, Armin Van Buuren has recently collaborated with new solo Canadian singer-song writer Trevor Guthrie to produce the energetic single “This Is What It Feels Like”. It has lots to say about Guthrie’s solo career.
The vocalist provides an intense soulful tone that impressively emulates a sentimental quality, whilst also retaining the imperative, generic pop rhythm. This marries seemingly well with Buuren’s excellently produced well timed trance beat, placing this track firmly into the arms of the mainstream audience.
It is a single written for the radio, an uplifting summertime track that does not need or want to be anything else. The lyrics do important essentially as the song’s key element not always remain with Guthrie’s surprisingly strong vocals, prominent throughout , providing nearly all the rhythm and humming material if you like.
Buuren merely gives support and structure, producing something that bounces around playfully behind Guthrie’s vocals, although the tempo and the volume of the beat is obviously upped in the chorus to provide a satisfactory climax. But even then it does not feel like Burren is fighting for our attention.
The contents of this song are lyrically and melodiously very strong. It is being exceedingly ranked on the billboard and is expected to do more while being keeping its place amongst young and enthusiastic hearts . So let us hope for the best and well done Armin Van Buuren.
